Wrong show
These two tracks are from 12-04-1973. At least the Casey Jones is from 12-04. I assume the Saturday Night is also from that night, as it is listed as the encore that night but was not included on the official release bonus disc from Winterland 1973. But this is not from 12-10.

This is an excellently presented show from the vault for us - I really liked the download series and wish they had continued the practice of finding shows unavailable on the archive and cleaning them up, provided they're release-worthy...
Set 1 - we don't get, unfortunately, the pleasure of rowing our way through the entire first set, but the tracks that are preserved are very fine - they certainly tightened up their energy a bit from the lagging first set of 12/6. Give it to Big River and another fine, drop-the-pebble-in-the-pond-ripply Playin'.
Set 2 - Anyone catch what Bobby says during the first Peggy-O? Couldn't make it out...Try this Row Jimmy - a beaut if there ever was one of this song. The couple of mini-medleys they go through on this set have some unusual song placing (when was the last time you heard Eyes > Brokedown?!?); splitting Sugar Magnolia for the first time must have been a lot of fun for the crowd.
Finally, what is up with this Saturday Night? Was it an encore after Casey Jones? Can't seem to find it on any of the setlists listed for this show anywhere. I have no idea what L/K below is going on about; I'll just say that I remember my first tab, too...

Download Series Vol. 8
This show is no where near the best of the year, or even of the fall tour for that matter, but it's a competent, well played, and enjoyable performance. No big jams like Dark Star, but lots of great "first set" type material; a good party show. The highlight for me was yet another outstanding fall 1973 China>Rider...was there a bad one on the tour?

L/K, I'm not really following you here.
Hopefully this show eventually gets circulated.

Re
The Casey Jones > Jam > One More Saturday Night suite is amazing. It spans about 45 minutes of pure gooey madness. There is a tiger jam right before OMSN and you can hear a Spanish tease about 12 minutes after the last note played of Jones. I thought the meltdown would lead into "Dark Star," but they decided to go into "One More Saturday Night" instead. An interesting choice on a late '73 journey through the ages.

Partial Show
This is all that circulates. That is why there is only a few songs here. There is a Master Reel sbd of the complete show in the vault that hopefully will some day appear :)
